The Five Community Hub Initiative
1. The Background
Our generation has just witnessed a historical event, where the Leader of the greatest nation in the world has publicly recognized the importance and significance of the communities of Jewish people residing in the Land of the Bible (Judea and Samaria).
The Binyamin Regional Council is the largest council in Judea and Samaria. It is located north of Jerusalem and is looked upon as Jerusalem’s Northern Gate. This region consists of over 80,000 residents, of which 50% are under the age of 18, and is comprised of 46 different communities, hundreds of nurseries and kindergartens and 62 elementary and high schools.
It is striking when we recall that only 50 years ago, hostile forces inhabited these areas with only one purpose in mind and that was to annihilate the Jews of Jerusalem and in all of the land of Israel. The issue of Jews living in these areas has continually caused major controversy worldwide and every obstacle possible was put in their path in order to hinder their growth.
Today, we can confidently say that the time has come to enable the residents of these communities to flourish in a thriving environment and enjoy the gamut of opportunities that life in these beautiful and historically important areas should offer.
As the Northern Gate of Jerusalem, it is our responsibility to strengthen the Jewish presence in this highly strategic important area. The Binyamin Regional council has therefore set a goal to triple the residing Jewish population and number 240,000 residents by the year 2030. In order to reach this objective, we must ensure that these communities will act as a magnet to attract young families from all over Israel and the Jewish world.
The success of such will depend primarily on ensuring that our residents will enjoy a good quality of life.
We have already started work in this direction to meet this goal and have initiated projects such as the landscaping of outdoor areas, the construction of additional permanent housing, educational facilities etc.
The next natural next step is to add community center buildings.
We are therefore planning to commence construction of five community hubs to be built according to high architectural and building standards with the most modern amenities and equipment. These hubs will foster
a bond between the residents of the different settlements and will be the center of social, cultural and sporting events.
2. The Cost
$3 million per Community Hub
These funds will be matched by varying Israeli government bureaus.
Naming rights for other areas and facilities within the structures are also available.
The Binyamin Regional Council in Judea and Samaria is extremely grateful for the ongoing support that it has received from both Jewish and non-Jewish groups and individuals alike who share the vision of a strong Jewish presence in the Biblical regions of the Land of Israel.
We hope that you will continue to be our partners in making the Five Community Hub Initiative a reality.
3. The Results
Triple the population in Jerusalem’s Northern Belt by leveraging the current momentum.
These hubs will enable the residents of the Binyamin Regional Council to transition from a life of adversity into a new normal reality by providing centers for Sports, Culture and Leisure activities.
